Brother Marines Dad
provides an update
The pictures I have included are of Brian at the traditional sign post on base pointing the way home. I also included a photo (although it is not of very good quality) of Brian and some of his friends when they met Chuck Norris. Chuck made an appearance on their base on a tour though Iraq, and Brian got to have his picture taken with him! Brian is just left of Chuck, with his arm draped around his shoulder. Boy, was Brian ever excited. He has always been a BIG fan! Brian's job in Iraq is a seven-ton truck driver. The trucks are all armored, and have all kinds of radio and cell phone jamming equipment to keep radio signals from detonating any IED devices close to his truck. That makes Mom and Dad feel a little better anyway. He really enjoys driving and being out away from base to see how things really are around the county side. He has told us that if he was "stuck" on base all the time he would go nuts. He is part of an Engineering Company that repairs and builds roads and bridges. Much of the time he is delivering supplies or personnel to and from the job sites. As far as
we know, he has not been too close to any bad situations yet. He does
not talk much about what he does while "outside the wire",
but instead talks about his friends and the things they do on base.
Brian is due back home sometime in April. If the readers of the ExPRESS
wish to write a note to Brian (he loves mail!) his address is: Cody Pierrou, Second Lieutenant, USMC
Cody is pictured in Quantico, Virginia, where all of the officer training takes place. He is now three weeks into six months of TBS (The Basic School) training at the Marine base. This program is where officers learn most of what they need to know in order to lead their Marines on missions. It is an interesting mix of classroom work and field work that reinforce each other. In addition to his training, Cody has been assigned the duty of managing the Physical Training (PT) of all 350 Marines currently in the TBS class. For those of you who know Cody, he has always been a fitness buff, and has consistently attained perfect scores on the Marine PT tests. That coupled with his degree from Purdue in kinesiology made him the prime candidate! With this additional responsibility, he is thinking he may never have any time to even do his laundry! After TBS ends in May, he will be getting married to a wonderful girl he met at Purdue, Hannah Miles. They will squeeze in a short honeymoon and then Cody leaves for his MOS (Military Occupational Specialty) school. The length and location of that school depends on what he chooses for his MOS. After that training, he will then be assigned to a station in the fleet. Cody also loves mail, so if you wish to write a note to Cody (packages
discouraged during training) his address is: Click here to read June 2007 story |
