The Winamac Kiwanis Club's
Third
Annual
Spring Fest
Saturday before Mother's Day (May 10, 2008)

Warm sunshine greeted visitors to the third annual Spring Fest on the streets of downtown Winamac Saturday, May 10 . The event features dozens of arts and crafts vendors with the opportunity to “shop for mom” for Mother’s Day.

Visitors to Spring Fest were entertained by strolling musicians Liza and Mark Woolever
of Plymouth

The festival also included the “Tippecanoe & Bicycles Too” scenic bike tour, inflatable games for kids, an antique car display, and spring plants and flower sales. Also, the downtown merchants offered festival specials and sales.

The event is organized by the Winamac Kiwanis Club. Chairman of this year’s festival was Steve Morrison. Kicking off the festival was the annual Kiwanis pancake-and-sausage breakfast.

Spring Fest builds on the 29-year tradition of the Winamac Farmers Market which had always been held on the Saturday following Labor Day, as well as the five-year Swinging Bridge Festival. Feedback to the Kiwanis Club revealed public interest in a spring flower-and-garden event which did not compete with other area fall festivals.

Spring Fest provided visitors an opportunity to shop for Mother's Day, or buy plants, flowers and ornaments for their lawns and gardens.

Children enjoyed the inflatable amusements

The Winamac Moose Lodge sponsored an antique car show
at the Spring Fest (shown here), as did the Winamac Car Club.

Spring Fest featured over 80 vendor booths, including many first-time participants.
