Francesville Post Office named
for local war hero Mac Lawrence

The Francesville Post Office was named for World War II hero Malcolm Melville "Mac" Lawrence during a special ceremony at the 2006 Francesville Fall Festival. Congressman Steve Buyer was among the dignitaries at the ceremony. Lawrence passed away in July of 2004 and since that time Congressman Buyer has worked with his family to honor and remember him.

"I want to thank Congressman Chris Chocola for allowing me to name a post office in his district after one of Francesville's model citizens. I also want to thank Senator Richard Lugar who recognized the value of Mac's contributions not only to Indiana but also to a country," Buyer said.

Born in Wheatfield and graduating from Purdue University, Mac was drafted in the Army upon which
