Steven Joseph Starkes WINAMAC - Steven Joseph Starkes, 20, 306 E. Old SR 14, Winamac, passed away at 12:37 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 31, at Pulaski Memorial Hospital in Winamac. He was born October 11, 1987, in Knox, to Dale and Elizabeth Henry Starkes.
Survivors include: He was preceded in death by: Steven was a member of the Concordia Lutheran Church in Chicago, where he attended services with his father and stepmother. He was baptized at Hilltop Lutheran Church in South Bend, and he was a confirmed member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in North Judson. He graduated from Winamac Community High School with an academic honors diploma in May 2006. While at Winamac, he participated in the Academic Super Bowl team and the cross country team. He was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Students. He received a certificate of achievement from the Indiana State Senate and the President's Award for Educational Excellence upon graduation. While in high school he earned a black belt in Tai Kwon Do and enjoyed doing volunteer work as a helper at the Pulaski Health Care Center in Winamac. Before graduating from Winamac Community High School, Steven attended the American School in Switzerland from 2002-2003. During this time he traveled through Italy, Switzerland, France, Austria, and the Czech Republic. He took drama and acting classes in England. While at the American School, he participated in the drama club. He was active in the Model U.N. program and was a representative at the Paris Conference in 2003. He also participated in the Future Problem Solvers Club and the Environmental Club. He played squash and intramural tennis while in Switzerland. He attended Culver Military Academy Summer Camp. While at camp, he was part of the Naval program, and participated in many sports. Most recently, Steven was a psychology major at DePauw University in Greencastle where he was a member of the Progressive Club and the Young Democratic Club. Steven was a graduate of the Columbia Yacht School's Junior Sailing Program. He was also a former employee of the Department of Natural Resources and worked in the Tippecanoe State Park in Winamac. He also worked at Starkes Law Office in Winamac, and was a former employee of the Comfort Inn in Rochester. Visitation will be 3 to 7 p.m., Thursday, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac, and one hour prior to services on Friday. A community service of remembrence will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday (Nov. 8), at the funeral home with Pastor Robert Boyd officiating. The funeral service will be at 7 p.m., Friday (Nov. 9), at Frain Mortuary with Pastor Fritz Photenhauer officiating. Following the service, a memorial celebration will be held at Steven's home in Winamac. An additional funeral service will be held at the Concordia Lutheran Church , 2647 West Belmont St., in Chicago at 1 p.m. CST on Saturday (Nov. 10), with Pastor H. David Brummer officiating. A memorial celebration will be held at 4300 North Marine Drive in Chicago following the church service. Private burial services will take place in the McKinley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Winamac.. WINAMAC - Gale M. Good, 88, of 6444 West 900 South, Winamac, passed away at 9:53 a.m., Monday, Oct. 29, at Pulaski Memorial Hospital in Winamac. He was born May 12, 1919, in Pulaski, to George and Othal Masterson Good. He married Alma Louise Reingardt on Jan. 26, 1941 in White County. She survives.
Also surviving are: He was preceded in death by: Mr. Good was a retired farmer. He lived in Beaver Township his whole life, and graduated from Pulaski High School in 1937. He was a member of Paul's Chapel Church. He served as District 3 Pulaski County Commisioner from 1970 until 1978. He served on the board of directors of the Pulaski-White Rural Telephone Cooperative from 1960-1972. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m., Thursday, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. The funeral service will be at 4 p.m., Friday (Nov. 2), at the funeral home, with Rev. Edward Clark and Rev. James Gabhart officiating. Burial will be in Paul's Chapel Cemetery. FRANCESVILLE - Hilda Clara Emma Selmer, 93, of 101 Constitution Drive, Francesville, passed away at 6:13 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 24, at Parkview Haven Retirement Home in Francesville. She was born May 21, 1914, in Medaryville, to Henry and Martha Teske Tetzloff. She married William W. Selmer on July 4, 1935, in Medaryville. He died March 29, 1988.

FRANCESVILLE - Anna Gabriele Aberle, 85, of 5195 S 1050 W, Francesville, passed away at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Oct. 22, at her residence. She was born Oct. 22, 1922, in Manisch, Germany, to Alfred and Anna Ronge Guertler. She has been in the United States for four years, coming from Kusterdingen, Germany. WINAMAC - Nancy Jean Miller, 71, of 1974 W 441 S, Star City, died at 3:23 a.m., Friday, Oct.r 19, at her residence. She was born May 24, 1936, in Thornhope, to Theodore and Lenora Smith Bowers. She married Melvin C. Miller on April 14, 1990 in Monon. He survives.
Survivors include: She was preceded in death by Nancy was a former scout leader, 4-H leader and Church Choir member.
She had worked as a bookeeper for the First National Bank in Lansing,
IL for 20 years. Visitation will be after 10 a.m., Monday, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac.
The funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Monday (Oct. 22), at the funeral
home with Rev. Glen Meyers officiating. Burial will be in the Winamac
Cemetery.
Robert Lee Scheffer
May 6, 1950 to October 13, 2007 WINAMAC - Robert Lee Scheffer, 57, of 505 South Franklin St., Winamac, .passed away at 10 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 13, at his residence. He was born May 6, 1950, in Logansport, to Albert Dick and Anna Jeanette
Roth Scheffer. Survivors include: Bob was a former resident of Key West, Fla. He worked as a maintenance foreman for the Key West Water Department. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War era. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m., Friday, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. A memorial service will be at 6 p.m., Friday (Oct. 19), at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be given to the ALS Association.
Darl W. Sutton
October 5, 1922 to October 6, 2007 WINAMAC - Darl W. Sutton, 85, 2614 S 456 E, Winamac, died at 8:23 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 6, at Pulaski Health Care Center. He was born Oct. 5, 1922 in Winamac, the son of William Frank and Minnie L. Burgess Sutton. He married Beulah G. Enyeart on June 4, 1950 in Kewanna. She survives. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Earl Sutton. Mr. Sutton was a retired auto mechanic, and had worked at Fritz Buick in Winamac for 12 years. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday (Oct. 10), at the mortuary. Rev. Dan Burgess will officiate. Buriail will be in the Citizens-IOOF Cemetery, Kewanna.
Helen M. Cooper Podell April 14, 1920 to October 5, 2007 WINAMAC - Helen M. Podell, 87, of 624 East 13th Street, Winamac, passed away at 4:47 p.m., Friday, Oct. 5, at Pulaski Memorial Hospital, Winamac. She was born April 14, 1920, in Winamac, to Ray and Alma Harris Cooper. She married Clarence R. "Pete" Podell on Sept. 16, 1939 in North Judson. He died July 1, 1998.
Survivors include Preceded in death by Mrs. Podell was a member of the St. Peter Lutheran Church in North Judson, and the Ladies Aide at the Church. She assisted Pete on the farm for many years. Friends may call 3-8 p.m. (2-7 p.m. CDT), Monday, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac; and one hour prior to services at the Church. The funeral service will be at 12 noon (11 a.m. CDT) Tuesday (Oct.r 9), in St. Peter Lutheran Church, North Judson, with Rev. Michael B. Boyd officiating. Burial will be in the Denham Cemetery, Denham, IN. Memorial donations may be given to the St. Peter Lutheran Church in North Judson or to the charity of the donor's choice.
September 12, 1924 to October 4, 2007 WINAMAC - Ethmer A. "Dusty" Rhoades, 83, 1222 West St Road 14 Winamac, died at 9:55 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 4, at Pulaski Health Care Center, Winamac. He was born Sept. 12, 1924, in Hobart, the son of Claude Clifford and
Garnett Ruth Edwards Rhoades. Survivors include: Preceded in death by: Mr. Rhoades was a retired service technician for NIPSCO and had worked
at the Dean Mitchell Generating Station in Gary. He was a member of
the First Baptist Church in Winamac and the American Legion and VFW
in Winamac. He had worked as the handy man for the local group home.
Visitation will be 3 to 7 p.m., Sunday, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., Monday (Oct. 8), at the funeral home. Robert E. Hinman June 26, 1948 to October 2, 2007 FRANCESVILLE - Robert E. Hinman, 59, 499 E. 13th St., Winamac, died at 5:05 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 2, at his residence. He was born, June 26, 1948 in Indianapolis, the son of John J. and Joan M. Joseph Hinman.

Myrtle Marie Welden June 22, 1906 to September 28, 2007 FRANCESVILLE - Myrtle Marie Welden, 101, 115 North Circle Drive, Francesville, died at 5:24 p.m., Friday, Sept. 28, at Parkview Haven Retirement Home, Francesville. She was born June 22, 1906, in Tefft, the daughter of George E. and Maude Peterson Salrin. She married Orace Weldon. He died on Oct. 2, 1974.
Survivors include: She was preceded in death by: Mrs. Weldon worked at the Francesville Post Office for 25 years. She
grew up on a farm near Medaryville and after high school she majored
in business and graduated from a private college in Kankakee, IL. She
was very active in her community an was co-founder of the local American
Legion Auxillary and served as president of the auxillary for several
years. She was the Pulaski County Democrat Party Chairwoman for two
terms. She was a member of the Medaryville United Methodist Church where
she taught Sunday school for many years. She also owned and operated
a resort (Tall Timbers) in Hayward, Wis. for many years. She was a talented
speaker and writer and often wrote editorials for the Francesville Tribune.
In her later years she was honored as Woman of the Year by the Town
of Francesville. At a reception held on June 16, 2006, in celebration
of her 100th birthday, Mrs. Welden was awarded a key to the Town of
Francesville. Visitation will be after 12 noon, Saturday, Oct. 6, at Frain Mortuary
Querry-Ulbricht Chapel, Francesville. A memorial services will begin
at 2 p.m., Saturday (Oct. 6), at the chapel. Pastor Susan Jennys will
officiate. Burial will be in the Roseland Cemetery, Francesville. Memorial Contributions may be given to: Medaryville United Methodist

Marie Richter Potts
February 12, 1939 to September 18, 2007 WINAMAC - Marie Richter Potts, 68, 615 Oak Drive, Winamac, died at 10:36 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 18, at Pulaski Memorial Hospital. She was born Feb. 12, 1939 in Paxton, Fla., the daughter of Helmut and Edna Parker Richter. She married Everett L. Potts on April 6, 1963 in Winamac. He survives. Also surviving are her parents of Winamac; two daughters, Suzanne Marie Potts of Indianapolis and Lisa P. (Brian) Hultquist of West Lebanon; a son, James Kevin (Coral) Potts of Lafayette; a brother, Fred Richter of Fort Myers, Fla.; and four grandchildren, James Kody Potts, Riley R. Potts, Katherine Parker Hultquist and Kyle Theodore Hultquist. Mrs. Potts was a 1957 graduate of Winamac High School, and attended Purdue University and Fort Wayne Business College. She had worked as a secretary at Fuller Brush in Indianapolis and was also employed by Frank H. King Insurance and Davis Plumbing and Heating in Winamac. She was a floral designer for 30 years with Camelot Flowers. She was well-known locally and across the state for her work with the Iris-Elm Garden Club, Winamac, and The Garden Club of Indiana, Inc. which she served as state president from 1995-97. She had recently been elected to serve The National Garden Club, Inc. as central region director, but had to resign due to illness. She had served in several other capacities on the national level. She held many offices with the Iris-Elm Club, and also with the district and state organizations. She was a Master Flower Show Judge, gardening consultant and environmental consultant. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Winamac. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star No. 96, Winamac. She was a former secretary of the Winamac Community High School Athletic Booster Club. She served as president of the Winamac Town Park Board, and was a member of the Winamac Tree Committee. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. An OES service will begin at 7 p.m., at the funeral home. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Friday (Sept. 21), at the mortuary. Burial will be in Winamac Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to The Garden Clubs of Indiana, Inc. scholarship fund. Minnie Wireman
April 11, 1933 to September 15, 2007 FRANCESVILLE - Minnie Wireman, 74, 14848 W 400 N, Medaryville, died at 12:56 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 15, at Pulaski Memorial Hospital. She was born April 11, 1933 in Salyersville, Ky., the daughter of Adam and Pearly Joseph Wireman. She married Chester Wireman in 1949 in Kentucky. He died in 1972. Survivors include two sons, Troy (Mable) Wireman and Roy (Deedee) Wireman, both of Medaryville; six daughters, Shirley (Delmer) Grigsby of Medaryville, Ruth Wireman of Salyersville, Ky., Charlotte (John) Conley of Medaryville, Brenda (Bobby) Bailey of Hudson, Lisa Howard of Medaryville and Tammy Howard of Medaryville; three brothers, three sisters, 31 grandchildren and 52 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by seven brothers, a sister and a grandson. Mrs. Wireman was a homemaker. Visitation will be after 4 p.m., Monday, at Goodway Baptist Church, Medaryville. March 17, 1924 to September 11, 2007 WINAMAC - Donald Gene Behny, 83, 1208 North Links Road, Winamac, died at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 11, at Pulaski Memorial Hospital, Winamac. He was born March 17, 1924, in Royal Center, to Darrell and Martha Baughman Behny. He married JoAnn Lange on March 17, 1946 in Winamac. She survives. Also surviving are a son, Thomas M.(Nikki) Behny, LaPorte; two daughters,
Pamela Behny (Richard) Scheffer, Largo, Fla. and Meg Behny (Kevin) Nethercutt,

seven great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren. He was receded in death by his step-father, J. Herbert Hoch and a great-grandson, Liam C. Behny. Following graduation from Royal Center High School, Mr. Behny attended Purdue University where he was a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. He was employed for 43 years at Hoch Farm Supply as a salesman, then vice president and manager. He retired in March 1986. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Winamac and was a 50-year member of the Winamac Lodge 262 F& AM and was Past Patron of OES 96 in Winamac. He was a past president of the Moss Creek Country Club in Winamac. He was a little league baseball coach for several years. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m., Friday, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac; and one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Masonic services will be held at 7 p.m., in the funeral home. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday (Sept. 15), in First Christian Church, Winamac. Rev. Glen Meyers will officiate. Burial will be in Winamac Cemetery, Winamac.
