Terrence "Terry" L. Goble WINAMAC - Terrence "Terry" Lee Goble. 68, 781 S 200 E, Winamac, passed away at 10:58 a.m., Monday, Sept. 29, in the St. Vincent Seton Specialty Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born Feb. 8, 1940, in Cleveland, Ohio to Wendall and Dorothy Peters Garman. She married John G. "Jack" Goble on June 7, 1987 in Winamac. He survives.
Also surviving are: She was preceded in death by: Mrs. Goble was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Winamac where she was active in the United Methodist Women. She regularly served the Winamac Kiwanis Club meals at the church. She belonged to the Indiana Nursing Association. She was employed as a registered nurse at Pulaski Memorial Hospital in Winamac, at Four County Mental Health Center in Logansport, and at Logansport Memorial Hospital. She was a 1987 graduate of Indiana University in Kokomo. She was a member of the Iris-Elm Garden Club in Winamac. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m., Thursday, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac; and one hour prior to the funeral service which will begin at 11 a.m., Friday (Oct. 3), at First United Methodist Church, Winamac.Pastor Kevin DeKoninck will officiate. Lula A. Grostefon WINAMAC - Lula A. Lu Grostefon, 87, 101 Oakview Drive, Monticello, formerly of Srar City, passed away at 12:42 a.m., Sunday, Sept. 28, at White County Hospital, Monticello. She was born Sept. 12, 1921, in Rochester, to John and Cora Hirt Hilficker. She married Max Grostefon on April 22, 1967 in Logansport. He survives.
Also surviving are: She was preceded in death by: Mrs. Grostefon was a former member of the Star City United Methodist. She had worked as a seamtress for the Harris Garment Factory in Winamac, and for Hart Shaftner & Marx Co. in Rochester. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday (Oct. 4), in Star City West Cemetery, Star City, with Pastor Devon Sink officiating. Mary Margaret Myers FRANCESVILLE - Mary Margaret "Mert" Myers, 61, 234 N. Columbia St., Francesville, passed away at 3:20 a.m., Sunday, Sept. 21, at her residence. She was born April 3, 1947, in Gary, to William and Elizabeth Eads. She married Donald W. Myers on Sept. 4,1965 in Medaryville. He survives.

(Katina) Myers, Brookston, Son Michael Eads, Wanatah, Brother Andria Myers, Brookston, Granddaughter Angela Myers, Brookston, Granddaughter Kayla Emerson, Brookston, Step granddaughter Natasha Emerson Brookston, Step granddaughter. She was preceded in death by: Mrs. Myers was employed as a housekeeper at Parkview Haven Retirement Home.She gave private care to several area residents over the years. WINAMAC - Anita-Ruth Breitweiser, 90, of 1801 Greencroft Blvd., Goshen, passed away at 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 20, at Goshen General Hospital, Goshen. She was born Oct. 18, 1917, in Winamac, to Lester and Georgia Ream Breitweiser. Survivors include: Preceded in death by: Ms. Breitweiser was a native of Winamac, and had lived in Bremen, from 1951-57. She then moved to Elkhart in 1957 where she lived until moving to Goshen in recent years. She was a retired music and art teacher, having taught for 35 years. She had taught in the Bremen, Elkhart, Medaryville, Burnettsville and Wheatfield schools. A graveside service will be at 11a.m., Wednesday (Sept. 24), at Winamac Cemetery, with Pastor Denny Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Winamac Cemetery, Winamac.
WINAMAC - Loretta Ethel Mudryk, 68, 3640 E SR 14, Winamac, passed away at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 20, at her residence. She was born Sept. 14, 1940, in Gary, to Reuben and Alva Galbreath Freshwater.
Survivors include: Preceded in death by: Mrs. Mudryk was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Denham. She was active in the church's Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, church dinners and bazaars. She had been a personal caregiver/homemaker for over 30 years. She had been both self-employed and an employee of Pulaski Memorial Hospital Home Health Care. She also had been a cook in the dietary department of Pulaski Memorial Hospital. She lived most of her life in Winamac, coming to the area from Gary. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m., and 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. A prayer service will be at 6 p.m., with Pastor Lewis Stier officiating. The funeral service will be at 11a.m., Thursday (Sept. 25), at the funeral home with Pastor Carl Fitchett officiating. MEDARYVILLE - Kendall Oliver Whitrock, 29, 504 South U.S. 421 Medaryville, died at 11 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 18, at South Bend Memorial Hospital, South Bend. He was born Oct. 13, 1978 in Rensselaer, to Kenneth Oliver and Brenda Jean Wayberg Whitrock. They survive, and reside in Medaryville.
He is also survived by: He was preceded in death by: Mr. Whitrock was employed by Lambert Construction at Crown Point, as a concrete finisher. "Gen" Scheffer, 76, 2092 West 100 North, Winamac, passed away at 5 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 17, at her residence. She was born June 13, 1932, in Winamac, to Martin and Theresa Nies Kuhn. She married to Clarence E. "Ben" Scheffer on Nov. 25, 1954, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Pulaski. He died Aug. 13, 2007.
Survivors include She is preceded in death by: Mrs. Scheffer was a former employee of Indiana Bell Telephone Co. and the United Telephone Co. She was a longtime cook and retired as the head cook at Winamac Community High School. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Winamac, where she was a member of the church choir and was a weekday mass server. She also was a member of the Christian Mothers, Ladies of Charity, and the Daughters of Isabella, all associated with St. Peter's Church. She also belonged to the Razzle-Dazzle Red Hats and was known at the club as Lady Song Bird. She was also a member of a card club, a bunco club, and a euchre club. FRANCESVILLE - Robert C. Ewing, 90, 303 N. Bill St., Francesville, passed away at 3:24 p.m., Monday, Sept. 15, in St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette. He was born June 16, 1918, in Mishawaka, to Harold and Ocie Nifong Ewing. He married Alma L. Linback on Aug. 29, 1940, in Idaville. She survives.
Survivors include: Preceded in death by: Mr. Ewing retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 25 years of service. He was also a former brakeman for the Ford Railroad System in Detroit. He was also a former employee of the Kingsbury Ordinance Plant and a bus driver for the city bus system in Laporte. He was member of the American Legion Post in Francesville, and a life member of the VFW Post #1728, Winamac. He was also a member of the First Christian Church, Winamac. WINAMAC - Albert M. Scheffer, 89, 519 S. Franklin Street, Winamac, passed away at 2:10 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 13, at Hickory Creek, Winamac. He was born June 12, 1919, in Pulaski to Henry and Katherine Miller Scheffer.He married Anna Jeannette Roth on Oct. 15, 1947 in Winamac. She died Aug. 16, 1977.
Survivors include: He was preceded in death by: Mr. Scheffer delivered fuel oil and gasoline for Farm Bureau Co-op in Winamac. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Winamac. Yaggie on Aug. 14, 1955, in Francesville. He survives.

Doris C. Yocom WINAMAC - Doris C. Yocom, 90, 730 School St., Culver, passed away at 4:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 6, in Miller's Merry Manor, Culver. She was born Aug. 6, 1918, in Winamac, to Everett and Esther Roach Vanaman. She married Dr. Emery James Yocom Jr. on April 11, 1941, at Clinton. He died Dec. 11, 1985.
Survivors include: Preceded in death by: Mrs. Yocom attended school in Winamac and Monterey. She was a life long resident of Culver. She maintained the office of her husband's veterinary practice in Culver. She was a member of the VFW Auxillary in Culver. A graveside services will be at 3 p.m., Friday (Sept. 12), at Winamac

George Behnke FRANCESVILLE - George Behnke, 79, 526 Beachwood Drive Monticello, (formerly of Francesville) passed away at 11:50 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 4, at White County Hospital in Monticello. He was born Oct. 16, 1928 in Winamac, to Paul and Ina Traver Behnke. He married Margaret Hebert on April 30, 1949, at Bruce Lake. She died on May 27, 1984.
Survivors include: Preceded in death by: Mr. Behnke was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Francesville

Louise K. Dommer WINAMAC - Louise K. Dommer, 77, 6321 West SR 14, Winamac, passed away at 4:03 a.m., Monday, Sept. 1, at Pulaski Health Care Center in Winamac. She was born Nov. 16, 1930, in Francesville, to Carl and Tena Kruger Garling. She married Henry William Dommer on July 1, 1950, in Winamac. He died Aug. 20, 1983.
Survivors include: Preceded in death by: Mrs. Dommer lived all of her life in Pulaski County. She was a member of the St. Luke Lutheran Church, Winamac. She was a retired custodian at the Eastern Pulaski School Corporation. Nina Rose Shimer Hopkins WINAMAC - Nina Hopkins, 84, passed away on Aug. 27, at Zionsville Meadows Nursing Home in Zionsville.
She was born Jan. 1, 1924 in Lamar to Wallace and Dorothy Shimer. Nina was preceded in death by husband Ralph Hopkins, son David Hopkins and sister Dorothy Lietz. Survivors are sons Mike Hopkins of Brownsburg, and Randy Hopkins of Bloomfield Hills, Mich., sister Lillian Foertsch of Evansville, brothers John Shimer of Dayton, Ohio and Bill Shimer of Juliette, Ga.; 6 granddaughters and 3 great granddaughters. Mrs. Hopkins graduated from Dale High School in Dale and worked many years for Dr. Edward Hollenberg in Winamac. She was an active member of the United Church of Christ in Crown Point, and Spring Hill, Fla. A memorial service will be at 6 p.m., Friday (Aug. 29), at First United Methodist Church,Winamac. WINAMAC - Herbert H. Vanaman Jr., 66, 415 E. Decker Dr., Winamac,passed away at 5:20 p.m., Monday, Aug. 25, at the Indiana University Medical Center, Indianapolis. He was born Nov. 30, 1941, in Long Beach, Calif., to Cmdr. Herbert and Ruth Garvey Vanaman Sr..
Survivors include: He was receded in death by his parents. Mr. Vanaman was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Winamac. He was a custodian at the Eastern Pulaski Community Schools, Winamac, from 1988-1999. He served 30 years in the U.S. Navy, including serving on the USS Walke, USS Rogers, USS Preble, USS Grand Canyon, and the USS Piedmont. He received the Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Sea Service Deployment ribbon with star, and the Battle "E" ribbon. He also received the Good Conduct Medal five times. He retired from the U.S. Navy in 1984. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Sunday (Sept. 7), in First United Methodist Church, Winamac, with Pastor Kevin DeKoninck officiating. The American Legion and VFW will conduct military honors following the memorial service. Vera Marie Clark WINAMAC - Vera Marie Clark, 89, 5364 S 275 W, Winamac, passed away at 3:28 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 21, at Pulaski Memorial Hospital, Winamac. She was born Nov. 26, 1918, in Kingsbury, to Arthur and Minnie Wickham Boardman. She married Henry L. Clark on June 19, 1938 in Tracy. Henry died Aug. 23, 1989.
Survivors include: She was preceded in death by: Mrs. Clark was a member of Judson Baptist Church in Indianapolis. She was a former member of the Pulaski Church Ladies Guild and was a former elder of the church. She was a former resident of LaPorte County, Indianapolis and Punta Gorde, Fla. WINAMAC - Evelyn L. Fisher, 87, Dandridge, TN, formerly of Winamac, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 20, in Tennessee. She was born Feb. 17, 1921, in Sevier County, TN, to Henry and Edna Kerley Burgess. She married Capt. Charles H. Fisher on April 21, 1945, in Amerillo,TX. He died on Nov. 15, 1990. Survivors include: Preceded in death by: Mrs. Fisher was a former Winamac resident before moving to Knoxville and Dandridge, TN. She was a member of the Methodist Church and was a former Avon representative. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Sunday (Aug. 24), in Star City West Cemetery, Star City, with Pastor David Sommers officiating. Homer Leroy "Peanie" Crissinger WINAMAC - Homer Leroy Peanie Crissinger, 86, 342 East Galbreath Drive, Winamac, passed away at 10:55 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 16, at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne. He was born May 23, 1922, in Headlee, to James and Cordelia Hall Crissinger. He married Alice Eileen White on June 20, 1942 in Headlee. She died Oct. 22, 1975. He married Marilyn Eshelman Poulos on Jan. 21, 1978 in Winamac. She died Sept. 16, 2000.
Survivors include: He was preceded in death by: Mr. Crissinger was a retired farmer. He served on the board of directors of Pulaski Human Services. He also served as Monroe Township trustee for two terms. Friends may call from 3 to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, at Frain Mortuary. Nellie L. Bosley WINAMAC - Nellie L. Bosley, 94, 624 East 13th St., Winamac, passed away at 4 p.m, Saturday, Aug. 9, in Pulaski Health Care Center, Winamac. She was born Feb. 5, 1914, in Winamac, to Lee and Lillie Cloud Goble. In 1944 she married Charles Leas. He died in 1946. She then married William Bosley in 1958. He died in 1990. Survivors include: Preceded in death by: Mrs. Bosley lived most of her adult life in Hammond, returning to Winamac in 1991. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Hammond, where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the church choir. She also was a member of the Nazarene World Missions. Private services will be held Thursday (Aug. 14), in Paul's Chapel Church, Pulaski, with Pastor Denny Wilson officiating. Burial will take place in the Paul's Chapel Cemetery, Winamac. FRANCESVILLE - Florence Marie Walters, 88, 681 E. Ada St., Francesville, passed away at 9 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008 at Life Care Center in LaGrange. She was born Feb. 1, 1920, in Pittsboro, to Ernest and Elma Caudy Krueger. She married Kenneth A. Walters April 14, 1938 at the Medaryville Methodist Parsonage. He died Feb.16, 2007.
Survivors include: Mrs. Walters graduated from Francesville High School. She lived all of her life in the Francesville area. She was a member of the former Independence Methodist Church until it closed, then became a member of the Francesville United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Jasper County Farm Bureau where she served as a women's leader for six years. She served as a District 3 women's leader for 15 years. She was a member of the Indiana Farm Bureau State Women's Committee. She was a delegate to Associated Country Women of the World for two years. FRANCESVILLE - Nicholas Eugene Hauptli, 30, 405 E. Montgomery St., Francesville, passed away at 4:28 p.m., Friday, Aug. 1, at his residence in Francesville. He was born March 22, 1978, in Winamac, to Eugene and Laura Ailes Hauptli. He married Sherrie Nightingale on Sept. 8, 2004 in Winamac. She survives.
Survivors include: He was preceded in death by: Mr. Hauptli worked as a laborer at various jobs. He enjoyed working on cars, especially race cars. He was a member of the Medaryville Volunteer Fire Dept. He was a member of the Medaryville Assembly of God Church. He was a Boy Scout and had earned the God and Country Award. He was a 1997 graduate of West Central High School and had attended the Nashville Diesel College in Nashville, TN with the aid of a scholarship from the Indiana Volunteer Fireman's Association. Marjorie Marie Gorby WINAMAC - Marjorie Marie Gorby, 83, 515 E. 13th St., Winamac, passed away at 8:15 a.m., Sunday, July 27, at Hickory Creek, Winamac. She was born March 7, 1925, in Sullivan, to Cecil and Kathryn Reed Dale. She married Howard Glenn Gorby on June 26, 1945, in Terre Haute. He died June 19, 1983.

Lawrence Joseph Perry Sr. He was born Dec. 16, 1917, in Pulaski County, to Leujay Perry and Bertha (Lebold) Perry, who preceded him in death. On Nov. 3, 1942, he married Mary Jane (Brucker) Perry at St. Annes Church in Monterey, who survives him.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by seven children, James (Mary Gudas) Perry of Piqua, Ohio; Rosemary (Stephen) Perry-Hessong of West Lafayette; Albert (Joyce Matteson) Perry of Evansville; Michael Mick Perry, Sr. of Winamac; Marilyn (Duane) Galbreath of Vonore, TN; Kathleen (James) Weidner of Salem, IL; and Jane (Ron) Becker of Zionsville; 20 grandchildren, Mary Eileen Miller, Lawrence Joseph Perry III, Christine Gladden, Theresa Whalen, Wayne Perry, Diana Perry, Michelle Perry, Michael Yoder, Lesly Norris, Christopher Perry, John Perry, Jennifer Gilliam, Stephanie Lemberis, Michael Perry Jr., Duane Galbreath Jr., Allison Galbreath, Lydia Weidner, Jack Weidner, Hannah Becker and Erica Becker; 20 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by two sisters, Anna Parcel of Winamac, and Theresa (Lloyd) Banks of Culver. He was preceded in death by one son, Lawrence Joseph Perry Jr.; one grandson, Mark Perry; three sisters, Viola (Eugene) Smith, Mabel (Robert) Cecrle, Helen (Isadore) Crist; and one brother, Charles Perry. Mr. Perry was raised in Harrison Township, Pulaski County and attended school in Harrison Township, where he later made his home. He was a farmer for 31 years on a farm that has been in the family name for 90 years. He designed and helped build his home and all his farm buildings. He was a foreman for the Indiana Department of Transportation from 1969 to 1978 after retiring from farming. For four years he was Harrison Township trustee. He and his wife owned Maple Corner Antiques and exhibited at many in-state and out-of-state antique shows. Lawrence and his wife were active members of St. Anns Catholic Church in Kewanna, and are members of St. Peters Catholic Church in Winamac, where he was a past member of the parish council. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. The funeral service will be at 10: 30 a.m., Monday (July 28), at St. Peters Catholic Church, Winamac. Burial will follow in St. Peters Catholic Cemetery, Winamac. Mary E. Balciunas WINAMAC - Mary Elizabeth Balciunas, 84, 8456 Saratoga Drive, Lambertville, Mich., formerly of Winamac, passed away at 6:30 p.m., Monday, July 21, at St. Anne Mercy Hospital in Toledo, Ohio. She was born Aug. 30, 1923, in Crookston, Minn., to Harry and Adelaid (Street) Chase. She married Vytol "Vito" Balciunas on June 2, 1943, in Chicago. He died on December 10, 1967.
Survivors include: She was preceded in death by: Mrs. Balciunas was a charter member of First Baptist Church in Winamac. She and her husband had operated a grocery in Ripley. She had worked at the Dairy Barn, Ace Hardware, and the Coast-to-Coast Hardware in Winamac. She served her church through its outreach ministries. One of her favorites was missions. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m., Thursday, at Frain Mortuary; and one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. WINAMAC - Robert W. Kirk, 66, 2730 E 600 N, Monterey, passed away at 9:40 a.m, Sunday, July 20, at Hospice Home in Fort Wayne. He was born March 24, 1942, in Louisville to William and Elsie Steff Kirk. He married Marie Tesseman on Aug. 24, 1967 in Hammond. She died Feb. 3, 2003.

Opal Clark MEDARYVILLE - Opal Clark, 78, 211 South Madison Street, Medaryville, passed away at 7:20 p.m., Tuesday, July 15, at her residence. She was born May 22, 1930, in Waldo, Ky., to Floyd and Goldie Wireman Wireman. She married Otto Joseph Clark Jr. on Jan. 15, 1955 in North Judson. He died on June 2, 2001.

Marilyn Capper Heinsen WINAMAC - Marilyn Capper Heinsen, 80, 471 N 48 E, Winamac, passed away at 3:05 p.m., Saturday, July 12, at Hickory Creek, Winamac. She was born July 14, 1927, in Chicago, to John Sheville and Romaine Tiffany Capper. She married Paul Bradford Heinsen on Nov. 15, 1968, in Kokomo. He survives.
Survivors include: Preceded in death by: Mrs. Heinsen was a member of the United Church of Christ, Punta Gorda, FL, and the American Contract Bridge League. She was a native of Star City and had lived in Winamac, Knox and Kokomo, and had been a resident of Punta Gorda, FL. She had a degree in interior design from Ivy Tech State College in Kokomo. A private family memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 15, in Frain Mortuary, Winamac, with Rev. Ron Lewellen officiating. Burial will take place in the McKinley Memorial Gardens, Winamac. WINAMAC - John S. Reisman, 42, of 6799 Bridge Street, Monterey, passed away at 9:15 a.m., Friday, July 11, in his residence in Monterey. He was born February 2, 1966, in South Bend, to Earl and Barbara Stamm Reisman.
Survivors include: Mr. Reisman lived in the Monterey area most of his life. He was a member of the Eagle's Lodge and the Moose Lodge. WINAMAC - Mary R. "G.G." Cargel, 94, of 4784 W 500 N, Winamac, passed away at 4:45 a.m., Thursday, July 10, at Pulaski Memorial Hospital in Winamac. She was born Dec. 31, 1913, in Hadley, MA, to Joseph and Rosalie Chrusciel Kielec. She married Robert Allen Cargel on Nov. 28, 1935, in Hadley. He died on Oct. 30, 1985.

WINAMAC - Barbara A. Simonin, 73, of 492 East 13th Street, Winamac, passed away at 11:50 p.m., Tuesday, July 8, at Pulaski Memorial Hospital in Winamac. She was born Oct. 6, 1934, in Rensselaer, to Eugene and Bernice Walker Ballard. She married Steven M. Simonin on June 19, 1989, in Wabash. He survives.

Fagner, 57, 1331 E 50 S, Winamac, passed away at 7:15 p.m., Monday, July 7, at his residence. He was born Aug. 23, 1950, in Winamac, to Russell and Annabelle Pennington Fagner. He married Annamarie Ritter on July 28, 1973 in Ripley Gospel Chapel. She survives.

He was a member of the Bethel Bible Church.He participated on several mission trips to Ecquador for his church. He worked with the youth group at the church for many years.
