Helen V. Eshleman FRANCESVILLE - Helen V. Eshleman, 88, 101 Constitution Drive, Francesville, passed away at 6:14 a.m., Friday, Feb. 29, at Jasper County Hospital in Rensselaer. She was born Nov. 6, 1919, in Francesville, to Samuel and Tillie Kuebler Geyer. She married Morris L. Eshleman on Aug. 8, 1942, in New Orleans. He survives.
Survivors include: Preceded in death by: Mrs. Eshleman was a longtime resident of Rensselaer and had been employed as a sales clerk at the JC Penny Store in Rensselaer for many years. She was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church, Francesville, and the Hope Club at the church. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m., Sunday, at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel, Francesville, and one hour before the service Monday in the church. The funeral ervice will be at 11 a.m., Monday (March 3), in the Apostolic Christian Church, Francesville with ministers of the church officiating. Burial will be in Roseland Cemetery, Francesville. WINAMAC - Charles E. "Chuck" Johnson Sr., 55, 7458 W 200 S, Winamac, passed away at 1:21 a.m., Friday, Feb. 29, at Pulaski Memorial Hospital in Winamac. He was born July 3, 1952, in Winamac, to Marion and Monna Lue Losh Johnson.
Survivors include: Mr. Johnson was a member of the National Rifle Association, and a life member of the North American Hunting Club. Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m., Sunday, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Monday (March 3), at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Koster Cemetery, Francesville.
MEDARYVILLE - Annalou Rasborshek, of 12070 W 100 N, Medaryville, passed away at 6:25 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 28, at Pulaski Health Care Center in Winamac. She was born Aug. 6, 1923, in Medaryville, to Ralph and Mary Timm Manning. She was married to Anthony Rasborshek. He died Oct. 19, 1994.
Survivors include: She was preceded in death by: Mrs. Rasborshek was always interested in local and national politics. She was a former two-term Pulaski County Treasurer, and was the first woman to hold elected office in Pulaski County. She was a longtime manager of the Pulaski County License Branch. She was very active in the Pulaski County Republican Party, having served as vice-chair for many years. She attended two Presidential Inagurations. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and the Medaryville Christian Church. She had lived in Frostproof, Fla. for over 20 years. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m., Monday, at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel, Medaryville. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday (March 4), at the funeral home with Don Nedza officiating. Burial will be in White Post Cemetery, Medaryville. WINAMAC - David F. Nightengale, 78, 506 Pine Lake Ave., LaPorte, formerly of Winamac, passed away at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 26, at LaPorte Hospital, Laporte. He was born Dec. 31, 1939 in Francesville to Herman Albert and Irene Margaret Hackett Nightengale. Survivors include: Sarah Bleicher, LaPorte, Sister Preceded in death by: Mr. Nightengale was a former resident of Indianapolis where he had been a factory worker. He is also a former resident of Rockport, Texas. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being handles by Frain Mortuary, Winamac.
Brian Duane Saltsman MEDARYVILLE - Brian Duane Saltsman, 44, Medaryville, passed away Sunday, Feb. 24. He was born Oct. 19, 1963 in Winamac, to Raymond Sr. and Shirley (Shelton) Saltsman who survive him. He married Gina Lynn McCarty on Feb. 14, 1992. She also survives. Other survivors include: Mr. Saltsman was employed by The Braun Corporation in Winamac and worked there for 16 years.He was a member of The Teaberry Hill Estates Church of Medaryvill where he was in the choir and active in the youth encampments. Funeral services will be held 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday (Feb. 27) and 10 a.m., Thursday (Feb. 28) at the Teaberry Hill Estates Church in Medaryville.
Lisa Ann Lloyd WINAMAC - Lisa Ann Lloyd, 44, 1415 E 200 S, Winamac, passed away at 7:28 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 23, at Goshen General Hospital in Goshen. She was born October 4, 1963, in Loganport, to C. and Freda Clemons Lloyd.
Survivors include: Preceded in death by: Ms. Lloyd lived all of her life in the Winamac area. She graduated from Winamac Community High School in 1982 and from Manchester College in 1986 with a B.S. in business and sociology. She received her law degree from Indiana University in 1989. She was a member of the Church of Christ. She practiced law as Lloyd's Law Office. She belonged to the American Bar Association, the Indiana Bar Association, and the Pulaski Co. Bar Association. She was supportive of her community, donating countless hours of pro bono legal services. She was a Master Gardener. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday (Feb. 27), at the funeral home with Rick Woodall officiating. Burial will be in the Star City West Cemetery, Star City. Christopher Michael Snyder WINAMAC - Christopher Michael Snyder, 20, 499 E. 13th St., Winamac, passed away at 5:56 a.m., Friday, Feb. 22, following an automobile accident at SR 14 & CR 300 E, Winamac. He was born Feb. 1, 1988, in Winamac, to Christopher and Yvonne Hinman Snyder.
Survivors include: Preceded in death by: He loved dirt biking, working on cars and trucks, music, hanging out with and texting his friends, and playing video games. WINAMAC - Brandon Dallas Jonathan Graham, 18, 807 S. Franklin Street, Winamac, passed away at 5:56 a.m., Friday, Feb. 22, following an automobile accident at State Road 14 & CR 300 East in Winamac. He was born April 11, 1989, in Winamac, to Scott and Tammy Crissinger Graham.
Survivors include: He was preceded in death by: Brandon graduated from Winamac Community High School in 2007. He reported for U.S. Marine Corp boot camp on July 31, 2007, Marine Combat Training on Nov. 7, 2007, Marine Communications School at 29 Palms, CA on Nov. 28, 2007 and had reported on Feb. 7, 2008 to Parent Command, Detachment 1, Communication Company at Grissom AFB in Peru, to serve as a radio operator. Brandon was active in his youth group at the Nazarene Church and traveled with the group on a mission trip to the Bahamas. He also studied taekwondo for years, obtaining his brown belt. WINAMAC - Dowana Ellen Harper, 95, 716 North Plymouth Road, Winamac, passed away at 2:50 a.m., Friday, Feb. 22, at Pulaski Memorial Hospital in Winamac. She was born Nov. 6, 1912, in Royal Center, to Guy and Louise Taylor McFarland. She married George A. Harper on Nov. 5, 1932 in Winamac. He passed away March 30, 1977.
Survivors include: She was preceded in death by: Mrs. Harper was a former wallpaper hanger. She graded apples at the Barco Apple Orchard and was also a laborer at the Leffell Canning Factory in Star City, a cashier at Ortman's Grocery Store in Star City, and telephone operator for Hoover's Telephone Company in Star City. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m., Sunday, at Frain Mortuary. A private family service will be held in Frain Mortuary, Winamac, with Michael Shurn officiating. Daniel Clyde Clark Jr. FRANCESVILLE - Daniel Clyde Clark Jr., 91, 628 N. Hathaway, Winamac, formerly of Rensselaer, passed away at 1:50 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 21, at Pulaski Memorial Hospital in Winamac. He was born June 26, 1916, in Morocco, to Daniel and Julia Gilmore Clark. He married Audrey L. Smith on Nov. 16, 1946, in Wolcott. She survives.
Survivors include: He was preceded in death by: Mr. Clark graduated from Monon High School in 1934. He served in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Div. 325th Glider Infantry Regiment during World War II. He served in six battles including Sicily, Italy, Normandy, Holland, Belgium, and Germany. He retired from farming at age 83. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m., Sunday, at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel,Francesville. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Monday (Feb. 25), at the funeral home with Dr. James Gabhart officiating. Burial will be in Osborne Cemetery, Rensselaer. George C. Feidner ROYAL CENTER - George C. Feidner, 77, Medaryville, died at 9:45 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 20, at Pulaski Memorial Hospital, Winamac. He was born May 28, 1930, the son of Harlan George and Irene Swafford Feidner. He married Betty J. Ditto on May 30, 1953. She survives. Also surviving are: Preceded in death by: Mr. Feidner was a U.S. Army veteran, who served in Korea and received a Purple Heart. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to2 p.m., Saturday, at Harrison-Metzger 7 Rans Funeral Home, Royal Center. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Saturday (Feb. 23) at the funeral home. Rosemary Friend Heater DAPHNE, ALA. - Rosemary Friend Heater, 93, of Daphne, Ala. (formerly of Winamac), died Tuesday, Feb. 19, at Thomas Hospital. She was born April 15, 1914. She married Joseph Lewis Heater of Winamac. Survivors include: Preceded in death by: Mrs. Heater resided in Alabama for the past 16 years. She ws a retired school teacher and community volunteer in Winamac. She was active with the Pulaski County Genealogy Society and the First United Methodist Church, Winamac. In Alabama, she joined the Red Hat Society at age 90. She was also a member of the Liberty Church, Fairhope, Ala. A celebration of life service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday (Feb. 23), at Liberty Church, Fairhope, Ala. Burial will be in Winamac at a later date. Norma Zoe Coble WINAMAC - Norma Zoe Coble, 81, 2711 South 50 East, Winamac, passed away at 11:30 p.m., Monday, Feb. 18, at Pulaski Health Care Center in Winamac. She was born July 21, 1926 to Clarence Bud and Teresa Eaglehoff Carnahan in Clinton County, Ohio. She married William David Coble on March 3, 1945 at her parents home in Buffalo. He died on July 17, 2004.
Survivors include: She was preceded in death by Mrs. Coble was a 1944 graduate of the Buffalo Community School. She is past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star, member of the First Christian Church of Winamac, and was the office manager for 27 years for Dr. William Thompson and Dr. Carneal. She was a former employee of a factory in Monticello during WWII. She was a homemaker and sold clothes at home sales parties. She was a former bookkeeper at Marsh Accounting in Winamac. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m., Thursday, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. An OES service will be held at 7 p.m. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday (Feb. 22), at the funeral home with Rev. Glen Meyers officiating. Eugene E. Haschel WINAMAC - Eugene E. Haschel, 67, 4893 N. Royal Center Pike, Royal Center, passed away at 3:05 a.m., Friday, Feb. 15, at Hickory Creek, Winamac. He was born March 21, 1940, in Winamac, to Clayton and Viola Hickman Haschel. He married Karen K. Lange on June 26, 1965 in Winamac. She survives.
Also surviving are: Preceded in death by: Mr. Haschel was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Winamac. He worked as a maintenance man for Wilson/Tyson Foods for over 35 years. He was a 1958 graduate of Winamac High School, and served in the U.S. Navy from 1958-1962. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Sunday, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac; and one hour prior to the funeral service which will begin at 11 a.m., Monday (Feb. 18), at St. Luke Lutheran Church, Winamac. Memorial donations may be given to American Brain Tumor Association. WINAMAC - Beulah E. Strong Keyes, 94, 801 N. Monticello St., Winamac, passed away at 8:30 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 14, at her residence. She was born August 22, 1913, in Walnut Prairie, Ill, to Reuben and Effie Sheets Dancey. She married Paul Strong on July 11, 1933, in Winamac. He died May 30, 1976. She then married Harold Keyes in 1980. He died in 1983.
Survivors include: Preceded in death by: Mrs. Keyes was a member of the First Christian Church, and Order of Eastern Star #96, both of Winamac. She had been employed at Miller's Ladies Store for several years. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday (Feb. 23), at McKinley Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Winamac. Memorial donations may be given to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Bud Krohn Sr. WINAMAC - Bud Krohn Sr., 81, 4640 E 50 S, Winamac, passed away at 4:30 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 13, in Pulaski Memorial Hospital, Winamac. He was born January 27, 1927, at Cedar Lake, to Charles and Clara Reichert Krohn. He married Dorothy Rose Frasa on July 31, 1948, in Winamac. She died Nov. 30, 2003.
Survivors include: Preceded in death by: Mr. Krohn was an active farmer. He was also the former Pulaski County Highway Superintendant for several years. He was a former Harrison Township trustee for eight years, a former Pulaski County Commissioner for 12 years, and was a Republican Precinct Committeeman for many years. He was an active volunteer in the Republican Party. Mr. Krohn was also a former member of the Pulaski County School Board and was serving when the Eastern Pulaski Community Schools were formed. He was a former member of the Pulaski Co. 4-H Fair Board and was an avid supporter of the 4-H program for over 48 years while encouraging his children and grandchildren as they participated in 4-H. He served on the ASCS board as a township committeeman for many years. He was a member of Winamac Masonic Lodge #262. He was a member of the Fulton County REMC board of directors for 12 years. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m., Saturday, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Sunday (Feb. 17), at the funeral home with Rev. Edward Clark officiating. Stephen C. Compton WINAMAC - Stephen C. Compton, 60, 1882 E 750 S, Star City, passed away at 6:58 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 12, at his residence. He was born July 26, 1947, in Logansport, to Richard W. and Aldene M. Schultz Compton.
Survivors include: Preceded in death by: Mr. Compton was a retired farmer. He graduated from Star City High School in 1965. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard. Helen L. Spence WINAMAC - Helen Laverne. Spence, 62, 508 Summit St., Winamac, passed away at 1:55 p.m., Monday, Feb. 11, in Pulaski Memorial Hospital, Winamac. She was born June 30, 1945, in Baltimore to Leroy and Clara Krynock. She was married to Jimmy Spence. He died in 2003. Survivors include: Preceded in death by: Mrs. Spence was a former school teacher and was an 18-year employee of Federal Mogul, Leiters Ford. She also was an employee of Pulaski Develpmental Services, Winamac. She was a member of the Eagles Lodge #2580 Auxillary, Winamac. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m.,Friday (Feb. 15), atWinamac Cemetery, Winamac. Memorial donations may be given to the family.
WINAMAC - Shirley J. Roberts, 61, 4245 S 235 W, Winamac, passed away at 4:10 p.m., Sunday, February 10, at Hickory Creek, Winamac. She was born January 30, 1947, in Peoria, Ill, to Frank and Margaret Strubhar Endress. Survivors include: She lived in Winamac for eight years. She formerly lived in Peoria, Ill, and Memphis, Tenn.
WINAMAC - Walter J. Weaver, 75, 514 S. Market St., Winamac, passed away at 11:15 p.m., Friday, February 8, at his residence. He was born March 22, 1932, in Star City, to Simon John and Anna Link Weaver. He married Mary Ann Thompson on July 7,1952 in Winamac. She survives.
Also surviving are: Mr. Weaver was a 1950 graduate of Pulaski High School. He was a retired farmer. He also retired in 2003 from the Indiana Department of Transportation where he had worked as a permit inspector for the Plymouth sub-district. He had worked in the parts department of Gilsinger Implement Co. in Pulaski for 14 years. He served as the Indian Creek Republican Precinct Committeeman for 17 years. He served on the Pulaski White Rural Telephone board of directors for 14 years. Friends may call from 3-8 p.m., Monday, Feb. 11, at Frain Mortuary. Charles Allen Simonin WINAMAC - Charles Allen "Chuck" Simonin, 73, 488 E. 13th St., Winamac (formerly of Francesville), died at 3:45 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 5, at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis. He was born Dec. 14, 1934, in Talma, to Alvin and Evelyn Harding Simonin. He married Iris A. Shidler on Nov. 22, 1952, in Logansport. She survives.
Also surviving are: Preceded in death by: Mr. Simonin was a former resident of Francesville for 45 years, moving to Winamac in 1995. He retired from NIPSCO in 1993 after 33 years of service as a certified welder. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Francesville. Other memberships included the Medaryville Masonic Lodge, a former member of the Medaryville Eastern Star, and Eagle's Lodge #2580, Winamac. He was a volunteer with the Fulton County Civil Defense and the Pulaski County Sheriff's Reserve. Friends may call from 3 to 8:30 p.m., Friday, at Frain Mortuary. Wallace Albert Bucher FRANCESVILLE - Wallace A. "Wally" Bucher, 84, 19 West Violet St., Francesville, passed away at 3 p.m., Monday, Feb. 4, at his residence. He was born July 10, 1923, in Kouts, to Harry and Magdalen Stortz Bucher. He married Rosella Feller on Aug. 3, 1947 in Cissna Park, Ill. She survives.
Also surviving are: He was preceded in death by: Mr. Bucher moved to Francesville in 1953, coming from Kouts. He was the former owner and manager of the International Harvester dealership in Francesville. He was a former employee of the Querry-Ulbricht Funeral Home in Francesville. He was a real estate broker, appraiser and auctioneer, and was an instructor at Feller Auction College in Kankakee, Ill. He was the owner and operater of Bucher Realty and Auction in Francesville. Wally graduated from LaCrosse High School in 1941. He graduated from the Reisch American School of Auctioneering in 1959 and became a real estate broker in 1963. Mr. Bucher served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army from 1945 until 1946. He served in Japan where he had as many as 35 enlisted men and Japanese under his direction. He was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church in Francesville. He served on the Parkview Haven Retirement Home board of directors and the board of Pulaski West Developers, Inc. He served for many years as an auctioneer at the annual Apostolic Christian Children's Home benefit sale. He was a member of the Indiana Association of Realtors, the Indiana Auctioneers Association and the American Legion. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m., Thursday, at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel-Francesvill; and one hour prior to the funeral service which will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday (Feb. 8), in the Apostolic Christian Church, Francesville. Ministers of the church will officiate. Burial will be in Roseland Cemetery, Francesville. Military graveside services will be conducted. He was born April 23, 1963, in Winamac, to Jerry and Mary Ash Howe. He married Julie Johnson. She survives. Also surviving are: Preceded in death by: Mr. Howe was a controler for Duke Energy, Cincinnati. He was employed at Duke Energy for over 22 years. He was a member and treasurer of the Florence United Methodist Church, and a member and coach in the Boone County Knothole Little League. He formerly coached Little League Baseball in Winamac. He graduated from Winamac Community High School in 1981 and from Ball State University in 1986. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, at Florence United Methodist Church. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday (Feb. 9), at the church. Burial will be in the Hughes Chapel Cemetery, Union, Ky. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 23, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. Friends may call from 2 p.m. until the time of the service.
