Actors Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen made a campaign stop in Winamac Thursday, May 1, on behalf of Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

News of the couple's impromptu visit circulated through town, mostly by word-of-mouth, throughout the morning.. They arrived at Cruizers diner at about 1 p.m. and encouraged those gathered to vote on Tuesday in Indiana's Primary. They then spent more than a half-hour posing for photos and signing autographs.

Danson is best-known for his role in the 1982-93 TV sitcom Cheers, for which he won both Golden Globe and Emmy awards. Steenburgen is an Academy and Golden Globe award-winning actress in TV and movies.

The couple are long-time friends of the Clintons.
